It’s been a while since I decorated the hall, mainly because it is such a large area and the ceiling is so high!
Anyway after seeing a lot of ads for Paint Runner - “Paint Runner is a revolutionary design in paint rollers. No more bending down to charge the paint roller, no more balancing with a tray on the ladder & NO MORE MESS!”
I decided to give it a go, so I ordered my Paint Runner, bought my paint and set to.
After loading the Paint Runner up and finally getting it to distribute a meager amount of paint I started to paint the ceiling, after about 10 minutes of struggling to get any paint at all on the ceiling I thought I would try it on the walls, which I have to admit was a little easier. But all in all it was an unmitigated disaster, no it doesn’t drip but once you get the paint into the roller it is heavy and difficult to use. It uses a ridiculous amount of paint just to prime the roller, and with the waste from the jug you use to load it, almost half a tin of paint has disapeared before you start.
Cleaning it out is a nightmare, not only is it difficult to clean but it wastes gallons of water, it was so bad in fact that in the end I just loaded the whole lot into an old carrier bag and headed for the waste bin with it. Which as far as this revolutionary design in paint rollers is concerned seems the most appropriate place for it.
So if you have been thinking about buying one, because they save work and mess, forget it. Save yourself some money, work and time and use a paint pad. They are easier to use, give a more even cover, don’t waste your expensive paints, and quick and easy to clean.
